Frequently Asked Questions

Getting started with GeoLink Pro is simple:

  1. Open the GeoLink Pro app on your iPhone
  2. Prepare your camera by enabling Bluetooth pairing mode
  3. Pair your camera with the app through the Bluetooth connection
  4. Once paired, your camera will automatically connect and start geotagging your photos

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services and ensure Location Services is enabled. Then grant GeoLink Pro permission to access your location.

To enable background geotagging, make sure the following permissions and settings are configured:

  • Set location permission to "Always" in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > GeoLink Pro
  • Grant Bluetooth permission when prompted by the app
  • Keep Bluetooth enabled on your iPhone

Yes, you need to pair your camera within the GeoLink Pro app even if it's already paired with iOS. iOS apps don't have access to system Bluetooth pairing information, so each app needs to establish its own connection with your camera.

If your camera isn't connecting, try unpairing and pairing again:

  • Unpair the camera from both the GeoLink Pro app and iOS system settings
  • Pair the camera again through the app

This often resolves connection issues by establishing a fresh Bluetooth connection.

If the app isn't recording your location, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Make sure at least one camera is paired and powered on
  • Verify that location services are enabled and GeoLink Pro has permission to access your location
  • Ensure Bluetooth permission is granted and Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone
  • Check that the distance filter in app settings is set to a reasonable value (the default is None)
  • Confirm you're in an area with good GPS signal
  • Check that your device isn't in low power mode

If your FUJIFILM camera isn't displaying the location sync icon or embedding location data in your photos, check the following camera settings:

In your camera settings:

  • Go to NETWORK/USB SETTING > Bluetooth/SMARTPHONE SETTING > SMARTPHONE LOCATION SYNC. and ensure it's set to ON
  • Go to SET UP > SAVE DATA SETTING > GEOTAGGING and ensure it's set to ON
  • Go to SET UP > SCREEN SET-UP > LOCATION INFO and ensure it's set to ON
  • Go to SET UP > SCREEN SET-UP > DISP. CUSTOM SETTING > COMMUNICATION STATUS and ensure it's set to ON

In the GeoLink Pro app:

  • Go to the camera detail view in the app
  • Disable the camera connection, then re-enable it to reconnect and refresh the Bluetooth connection
  • Verify that the camera shows as connected in the app and that location services are active
  • If the issue persists, try unpairing the camera from the app and pairing it again

If your Sony camera isn't displaying the location indicator or embedding location data in your photos, check the following camera settings:

In your camera settings:

  • Go to MENU > Network > Bluetooth and ensure it's set to ON, and that the camera is paired with the app
  • Go to MENU > Network > Loc. Info. Link Set. > Location Info. Link and ensure it's set to ON

In the GeoLink Pro app:

  • Go to the camera detail view in the app
  • Disable the camera connection, then re-enable it to reconnect and refresh the Bluetooth connection
  • Verify that the camera shows as connected in the app and that location services are active
  • If the issue persists, try unpairing the camera from the app and pairing it again

FUJIFILM cameras cache location data and will continue using the last received location information for up to 3 hours. After this period, the location data expires and the camera stops writing location information to new photos.

Additionally, when you first turn on your camera, GeoLink Pro needs approximately 10 seconds to establish the Bluetooth connection and start sending location updates. During this initial connection period, your camera may use outdated or no location data.

To ensure accurate location data:

  • Wait until the app connects to the camera after it's powered on before taking photos
  • Check that both the communication (Bluetooth) status icon and the location status icon are displayed on your camera's screen, indicating an active connection and location sync. You can also verify the connection status in the GeoLink Pro app

GeoLink Pro works with cameras that support Bluetooth connectivity for geotagging. Below is a list of compatible camera models:

Verified and tested cameras:

  • Sony a7C II
  • Sony a7 IV
  • Sony a7 V
  • Sony a6700
  • FUJIFILM X100VI
  • FUJIFILM X-T5

Likely compatible (not fully tested):

  • Sony a1 and a1 II
  • Sony a7 III
  • Sony a7R V, a7R IV, and a7R III
  • Sony a7C
  • Sony a7CR
  • Any Sony camera that works with the Creators' app
  • Any Sony camera that works with Imaging Edge Mobile
  • Any FUJIFILM camera that works with XApp

If your camera supports Bluetooth connectivity but isn't listed above, it may still be compatible with GeoLink Pro.

GeoLink Pro offers a free mode for basic use and a subscription-based Pro mode for unlocking the full experience:

Free mode:

  • Available at no cost
  • Location accuracy is restricted to "Reduced" mode
  • Limited to pairing with one camera at a time

Pro mode (subscription):

  • Removes the location accuracy restriction for full precision geotagging
  • Allows unlimited cameras to be paired simultaneously
  • Provides access to more advanced controls and customization options
  • Unlocks all future GeoLink Pro features as they are released
